It took quite a few weekends, but the exterior of our home is finally finished. Here's the before, in all its minty green glory:
And here is the new, neighbour approved, maximum curb appeal, improvement:
Hooray! We decided against putting the shutters back up and eliminated the screen door. I think it fits in better with the design of the house and looks more modern. Some how the house looks bigger now.
And thanks to Jody for the spinning tip, I've decided to keep practicing my thicker spinning. If I make an effort to learn both at the same time, perhaps I can avoid being stuck in only one kind. It can't hurt and it might help. So, here's some black welsh in progress spinning:
I love the yarn this made. It's thick and cushy.
I love the red door most of all!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks fab. I luv the red door too.
ReplyDeleteHappy spinning!
Did you get a new front door or just paint the old one? I don't recall the window. Very brave with no screen door. I'd be worried about the dog making a break for it when bringing in groceries.
ReplyDeleteIt's a brand new house! :) Beautiful. I'm glad you went with red.
ReplyDeleteJim plus helpers did an awesome job! You're right about the house having a much more modern feel to it now. At first glance I thought you'd installed new windows too! But then I read on to discover you'd simply removed the shutters.
ReplyDeleteTop job with the spinning too! As soon as my "oweeee" thumb is better, I will finish off my bit of homespun to I can start to knit with my Black Welsh yarn too!
Your house looks good. I particularly love the red door
ReplyDeleteNice work, Jim! Must feel so good to pull in the driveway now and see it all updated and beautiful! I agree with the other commenters that the red adds the perfect splash of color.
ReplyDeleteThe house looks fabulous! Green might have been 'the' colour in it's day, but the grey is much more current.
ReplyDeleteThe down side to no screen door? Can't leave the door open to the cool summer breezes without all the bugs.
ReplyDeleteThe house looks terrific! We had a red door growing up, and it's a nice way to make the winters more cheerful and differentiate your house from all the others on the street. Also, wreaths look much prettier on red doors, imo.
