My Regrets

I regret that I haven't written this sooner.  I have completely finished my Noro blanket and I am underwhelmed.

Perhaps there are too many beautiful versions on the net.  Perhaps my expectations were too high.  Perhaps in skimping on the cost of wool by buying my skeins on sale, I short changed myself.

I regret getting so caught up in the process that I neglected details like gauge.  Even the gauge on my edging is wrong, resulting in an untameable curl.

You know what, I don't care.  I'm willing to live with my regrets.  Because at the end of the day I have a warm, colorful blanket that my family has already been enjoying.  Bring on the winter!  We has a blanket.

  3. I think you've just been looking at it too long and can only see the things that don't thrill you, when in reality it's a very pretty blanket -- lovely colors, ruffly edge (even if unintended!), warm and wonderful wool, made by hand, with the memories of a period of your life knitted into every stitch. It will wrap your family in love for years to come!

For the record, we have our official "ugly blankets," which are granny square acrylic afghans that were my car projects 20+ years ago. Yup, they're acrylic. Yup, they're ugly. And yup, they're loved by my family.

Off to find how to make my own FO Rav-powered slideshow because I'm having fun watching yours flash all your great projects for me.

  4. I, too, was going to say that the binding added a frill although unintentional. I am absolutely overwhelmed by this blanket! I love it! I feel lucky have to been its presence. :)

Oh, it's beautiful! And take it from me, an inveterate blanket maker (acrylic, mohair, wool...), it will be well used and well loved.

    There's absolutely nothing like a hand-made blanket :)
