Just like a kid riding their first two-wheeler, I want to shout it to the world, "I did it!" I learned to spin on a wheel. It turns out that the reason the yarn wouldn't take up on the bobbin was because it was wrapped around the guide on the woolee winder. Doh! But you know, learning something like that the hard way means that next time I have a problem with take up, I'll double check that the yarn is flowing freely.
I was so happy, I got Jim to shoot a movie.
Awesome! I'm glad you figured out your problem with your wheel. You look like an expert spinner in the video!
ReplyDeleteGuess we know what you're doing this weekend! And beyond!!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like suddenly "getting it", is there? Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Laurie! How exciting! You won't need to watch video 2 with me now! You can teach me!! Yay for you :-)
ReplyDeleteYAY! Spinning is on my bucket list so you're video was a real inspiration (and hubby learned how to turn the camera off too)!!!
ReplyDeleteI foresee a sheep in your back yard!
ReplyDeleteWooo-hooooo!!! Look at you go!!! The only thing I ever tried that was a bigger disaster than spinning with a drop spindle was trying to spin with a wheel. I am SERIOUSLY impressed!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. How long before you're spinning your own sweater?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Laurie. Fibre historians everywhere are excited.
ReplyDeleteWHEEEEEE! Good for you SOMEDAY I will learn
ReplyDeleteI'm so far behind in my blogs, but better late than never, so, CONGRATULATIONS!! You look like you're doing wonderfully. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on learning to use a wheel! I'm looking for the same wheel, but with the orifice on the right.
ReplyDeleteeither a sheep or a big angora bunny wabbit. Shhhhhh I'm hunting the wooly wabbit. Instead of wiley wabbit. lol you look so awesome at that wheel. I stare darts of envy at you. It is something I will never do, I am trying to regain my confidence after 10 yrs of absolutely no knitting.. it's a slow progress but I love reading your blog and seeing the stuff you can do.
ReplyDeleteand yeah. I know I am posting to old posts but I am reading them as if they were posted today, no perspective here just enjoyment.
