Yeah me!! I'm so pleased and proud to announce that I have found a challenging new job as a technical writer for a software company. I'm really excited and therefore very glad that I start Monday. I can't wait to dig in to it.
But I had just one little problem in my way. As some of you may remember, my car was wrecked in a crash in September and I chose to ride the bus rather than replace it. This works fine for London, but my new job is in Waterloo! And while we may choose to move at a later date if everything works out, I'm going to have to commute in the mean time.
So, Jim and I went car shopping and now I have this, a 2009 Dodge Avenger:
I'm so happy!! So if you don't hear much from me over the next little while, its because I'm either on the road or brain deep in learning new tech stuff. Wish me luck!!
double well done, and best of luck!!

ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you! I am sure it has been a long winter in many respects, so welcome to spring and new beginnings. The only down side is you won't be able to knit on the way to work!

Congratulations! They're lucky to get you. My DH used to have a long commute like that -- one thing that helped him was to have a bag packed with raw almonds (excellent diet snack) and a few bottles of water. Do you have a flashlight and all that sort of stuff for the pretty new car? Really glad for you!
ReplyDeleteLaurie,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you accepted. All I can say is "books on disc". Has saved my sanity for the last 10 years. Your local library has a good selection. If you want other helpful suggestions on commuting send me a message.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! That sure didn't take long. KW has a wonderful Knitters Guild and of course the Knitters Fair.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear your news. I'm sure you'll do well in your new position. Anyone who knits, modifies, and designs as you do is obviously one smart cookie.

Oh, Laurie, good for you and many congratulations. My husband did that commute for 2 years when he was at Wilfred Laurier, there's a back way that is supposed to be a bit faster, from the north end of London.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, and an MP3 player crammed with music and audiobooks keeps me going for long drives,
Maureen
