Grab a hat, the cold is coming!

Though you wouldn't know it from the weather we've been having around here lately. It's going to be as warm as summer this weekend. Still, I have this urge to knit for the cold and so I've finished a hat.

Shedir from Knitty
Yarn: Alchemy Lone Star color way Good Earth
Needles ?
Modifications: extensive! I started off with a tubular cast on. I used seven repeats instead of eight going around, and then only two repeats of the main part of the pattern. Then I increased the speed of the crown increases by taking out the rows of plain knitting. As you can see, it fits, and I had even had enough yarn. All's well that ends well.

Give us a kiss big boy.

  1. That hat looks great on you and did you notice that you and Dexter have a similar hair/fur color?

I need to knit a wool one of these - the cotton just doesn't cut it in the winter! I like you mods esp. that nice tubular cast on - beautiful hat!

  4. The hat looks perfect. In the second photo your hair is almost exactly the same color as mine, just a tad darker (the grays are giving me faux blond highlights).

Oh my Gawd Laurie, you and Dexter have the same hair colour. I feel so gob smacked to realize it from the picture, since I see you both every week!

  8. That is a very pretty hat, and Lori is right, the color looks amazing on you. I love all the modifications you did, especially since I'm not brave enough to even change the inches of ribbing on a pattern. That is one pretty hat, girl. Dexter looks pretty happy with the attention, too =)
