Whew!

Thank you everyone for your supportive responses to my last post. My family and I appreciate it.

What a busy weekend we had. On Saturday there was shopping, and cleaning, and knitting of course. The dishwasher broke and my husband repaired it. I offered moral support, some troubleshooting, and a selection of tools to assist in clearing the blockage.

We're very happy to have dodged a call to the repair man. And our dishes are cleaner too!

I finished my Floral Fair Isle Gloves.

The fit is great, but I'm not in love. They seem rather bright. I think I'll tuck them away for now. I'm probably just to close to them still.

On Sunday, there was more cleaning and this afternoon we went to the children's holiday party held by the company I work for. It was a lot of fun, very well organized, and it is always a delight to see the children of my co-workers. It was also pretty loud, as you can imagine. I'm looking forward to a quiet evening's knit.

  1. Well, I think the gloves are beautiful. Nice job! Maybe you could squirrel them away and bring them out as an unexpected Christmas gift, should the need arise....

Hey -- the Word Verification is "knjtz". That's almost "knitz". Cool, huh? Or am I just a dork? ;-)

  2. It's amazing how hectic things get around this time of year without even trying. The quiet knitting time is well-deserved. (And gorgeous gloves, btw.)

Wow - your life is paralleling mine in rather uncanny fashion right now - except the dishwasher repair guy is coming to our house. I was tremendously heartened to read your last post, because we are still embroiled in the bad and confusing and not-yet-diagnosed-but-I-have-my-suspicions part with my DD. It hurts like hell, but your post gives me hope that there will be an "other side" to come out on.

Tuck them away awhile and see what happens then - if you still think they're a bit bright, you could try a careful overdye to tame the colors a bit and make them flow together.

I came across your blog a short time ago and am delurking to tell you that your post last Thursday was very moving. My eldest son has ADHD, dysgraphia and Bipolar Disorder. He's 21 now and getting to the crux of the Bipolar Disorder and getting a diagnosis was excrutiating. However, having the "label" lets us know what to do to try to help him. My dad (at the time we got the diagnosis) said "You sound as though you are happy he has ADHD and Bipolar Disorder." My response was that while we are very far from glad that he has these problems, we are soooo glad that we can try to work with something rather than just facing the frustration of the behaviors without knowing what to do about them (or for them). I'm glad for you that you have such a wonderful doctor to help you with this! It can make all the difference in the world.

  8. It sounds as though things are going well for your son, which is simply wonderful. It is amazing how perspectives can change once you have a diagnosis, isn't it? From "problem child" to "child we can help" in no time (relatively speaking, if school adminstrations move as slowly by you as they do here).

The gloves are lovely ... although they look purple, and the last picture made them look pink. Pretty either way.

Wah! I commented and Beta Blogger kicked me out!

Laurie, I love the gloves, but they are far more purple than I expected. I do think that hand knit gloves like socks, should be colourfull and lovely!!
